on a brand new 2015 f250 super duty super crew gasser. going with the XL with a couple doo-dads. 6 3/4' bed with chrome bumpers/grill and aluminum wheels. haven't gotten down to brass tacks yet but one dealer wants 38 OTD. seems like a lot of money for a basic truck but pretty much in line with internet pricing. looking forward to it but it hurts to drop that kinda cash on a truck. but i plan on taking care of it and running it into the ground. going to another dealer tomorrow to see their selection and get my ram trade price. i hate dealing with friggen car dealers.

If the rear suspension is same as the diesel, and you plan to tow or carry heavy, I'd reco going with the 1T.

only towing i'll be doing is a couple quads or motorcycles. i haul usual stuff like firewood, dirt, etc but its a short bed so i oughtta be ok. this will be used for basic hunting, camping, home owner type stuff.

38K is where 3/4 tons are these days. Given what you haul you can drop down to a 1/2 ton. It will haul the things you are talking about and you can save a few bucks.

Congrats!?

I bought the f350 PSD years ago and am still loving it. I did have a big 5th wheel at the time. I had 1/2t trucks before that and the difference is huge in how they're built. The frame is a truck frame. The new 1/2t not so. The biggest difference between the 3/4 and 1t at the time was the brakes. Don't know if thats still the case.

I think the new 3/4 and one tons are essentially the same, outside of gear ratios and springs.

my '15 SD should be here tuesday. i hit a different dealer and got one with a few more doo-dads for the same price. heavy alternator, bigger tires, skid plates, plow prep, power package and a few other things the other one didn't have. and they gave me a decent buck for my POS ram. now my boys, who are 17, keep walking around saying "Super Duty" at every opportunity. ya its a bit overkill for my needs but it is a hell of a nice truck. i haven't had a new truck in 20 years so i am looking forward to it. i hope this one lasts as long or longer than my 94.

Speaking of dealing with car dealers...

http://www.dchchryslerjeepdodgeofte...ula-d4f7c1410a0a00de177f04cd9278ae51.htm

I wanted to buy this one, says "FINAL PRICE" $34,779, so I expected around $37k OTD. Have cash and I'm ready to buy, I called them up yesterday to plan a trip down to get it and they inform me that the listed internet price doesn't include any extras and the actual price is $56,484...over $20,000 more then they have it listed for! After a few heated moments and emails to them they said they could knock $5,000 off, but that is still WAY to much for me. Between them and ATT sending me a $300 bill, yesterday wasn't very fun! lol

It's been 8 years since I bought my last new vehicle, and the "experience" still leaves me a bit pizzed at how much of my time they wasted and the games they played. I figure by the time I need to replace my truck I should be sufficiently over that experience.

[bleep] car salesmen! I say buy something slightly used to avoid them and their antics along with that initial depreciation no more you drive it off the lot.

picked my SD up about 3 hours ago. nice truck. plenty of git up and go with the 6.2 gasser with 3.73 too. i know all new trucks are nice but this one is really big and cool and has the perfect combo of options for me without being blown out. front end looks like a locomotive. heading to camp in it tomorrow, but with 2 teenagers, i doubt i'll be driving it much.

week and a half in and so far so good. two trips over the mountains to camp, lots of around town and back roads. averaging 14.7mpg and thats with my leadfooted boys driving it a lot. first impressions are that this is a really nice truck. lots of compliments on the looks. ordered a leer cap for it so its ready for deer season.

hope it holds up.
