NRA LIFE MEMBER GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS ESPECIALLY THE SNIPERS! "Suppose you were an idiot And suppose you were a member of Congress... But I repeat myself." -Mark Twain
I'm pretty certain when we sing our anthem and mention the land of the free, the original intent didn't mean cell phones, food stamps and birth control.
So...You are pissed that Walker is forming a unity ticket and in very good position to defeat Parnell who is clearly willing to sell all of us down the river if the oil industry asks him to. For those of you who are Palin loyalist you have to look at how quickly Parnell pulled an about face on the oil tax reform that his boss pushed forward.
Which of Walkers conservative positions do you not like? Gay Marriage? Walker is against it... Alaskas Sovereignty? Walker wants less federal intervention in our lives...2nd Amendment? Walker supports it as strong as anyone.....Fiscal Responsibility? Walker wants to put a stop to the excess spending spree that our current gov is on....
So tell me what do you not like about Walkers positions? I think you are pissed that he is willing to work for us rather than the oil industry!
Is that what you phaggit loving, gun hating liberals are calling it?
Like all liberals, walker will do or say whatever it takes to get elected.
You have chosen your words so carefully! I like the way you have chosen to use works that express your love of country and the fact that you are supporting same sex marriages! Very timely!
You know that you don't have to choose the ISIS method of hating everything that you disagree with and I think Walker is or has been a card carrying Republican for almost all of his life!
I think Walker is or has been a card carrying Republican for almost all of his life!
Last election he ran as an independent, this time with a democrat partner to mate with
I reckon he'd sell his soul to the devil for that seat.
Authority has always attracted the lowest elements in the human race. All through history, mankind has been bullied by scum. Those who lord it over their fellows and toss commands in every direction and would boss the grass in the meadow about which way to bend in the wind are the most depraved kind of prostitutes. They will submit to any indignity, perform any vile act, do anything to achieve power. ~ P. J. O'Rourke
Why won't he endorse marky? Marky did a reach around.

Dude...ease up off the gas pedal. You're out of line.
This race should be about Alaskans and Alaska's future. Nothing else.
Oh yeah taxing the [bleep] out of oil companies and watch them pack up and head to the easy oil of North Dakota... No thanks screw walker and the demorats...

Thank goodness! I really was not worried about that but more about school funding and a gas pipe line.
More school funding wtf did you know Alaska ranks #2 in money spent on students over $17,000 per student. You [bleep] in glennallen if you would let Valdez bring you into their borough maybe you have more money for schools but oh yeah glennallen doesn't want that cause you guys don't want to pay borough taxes. If I spelled burrough wrong then I blame it on auto correct.

I know you are not well informed on Alaska Education issues so lets just look at the major driver of the $17,000 per student in Alaska...
$10 fuel oil in Arctic Village The Alaska Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development conducts a semi-annual survey of fuel prices in 100 Alaska communities. For most of the communities, fuel prices didnt change much between 2013 and 2014. The towns with the highest fuel prices were wholly dependent on air transportation for their supplies, followed by communities that depend on seasonal barge delivery. (See Exhibit 11.) Gasoline prices ranged from $3.69 a gallon in Fairbanks to $10 in Arctic Village. Arctic Village also had the most expensive heating fuel at $10 a gallon.

What did the arctic villagers do before white folks sold em toyo heaters, snow machines and toilet paper?
Maybe they should go back to the old way, or pay the price to live out there. Ain't nothing for free, except to liberals.

Kinda funny how people conclude that once they have their's (Wasilla exists thanks to the Fed Gov's railroad into the interior) that the rest should go it 'on their own'. (Wasillians weren't flushing toilets or commuting to Ship Creek before the railroad showed up either.)
BTW that same railroad killed some rather thriving business and communities all up and down the Yukon - river traffic .....(not government sponsored either)- which supported business in the interior. Anchorage won the big jackpot in that deal

Pretty funny how you skirted getting brought into the Valdez burrough.. You are classic liberal when facts are presented you dig in and start babbling.

Does this help?
Well Walt what do you pay in property taxes? I'm guessing zero...

I have not seen any proposal for being annexed up here. 1st question would be why would Valdez want to expand to include an area with very little to offer and lots of demand?
That's right boys mr more money for schools does not pay property taxes
Most of the state of Alaska pays no property taxes. We will leave the property tax issue to you guys in the lower 48. And yes I pay no income, no property tax. Jealous?

But yet you crawl up to democrats like Walker, like a dog on your hands and knees, asking them to steal from taxpayers for your needs. Pathetic tramps.

Please check your facts! I believe Walker is an "I" for Independent and was a "R" before that. It pains me to see you present yourself in such a stupid light. Try reading on an issue first next time!
Anti up them taxes if you want the frills. Wanna compare contributions?
FWIW we had a rather decent economy relative to other parts of the state before we "got railroaded" and were no longer important or viable. Seward also lost on the deal but they managed to hang on. Winners in the deal included Fairbanks and other places up and down the rail line. Ship Creek (Anchorage) became the sweepstakes winner in the deal and of course Wasilla also grew to become something more than a Native village. Saint Michael- the only useable deep-water transfer point between open sea and river near the Yukon delta went from being a prosperous non-native town of several thousand alongside the Native village of Taciq to a small mostly Native village of a few hundred. While it's true that many of the small rural places don't pay their way....and can't- the downside of having so much government influence which doesn't support infrastructure is that it's difficult to gain any equity in a lot of places as well. You might own your own place in one of the hugely supported places - paying mightily to own it. Yet it has no value anywhere close to what you've invested due to the fact that no one who might want it could afford it and/or they can get a gov sponsored dwelling for less than they price of interest on the principal.
There's an upside and a downside to gov't intervention (interference). Some win by it/ others lose. Those who keep getting (needing) because they can't sustain are not the winners. While there are more than lots of negatives to being in the taker category- I have no problem with those who have -because of some largess not of their own doing- sharing their bounty with those who have been shorted of the same opportunities.

Lol my wife and daughter live in Wasilla we have a home and pay plenty in property taxes to the matnuska burrough. Most of the state doesn't pay property taxes? When majority of the population is in anchorage and Wasilla-Palmer... Hhmmm

PS I like my tax situation just fine right now.
It's called tax revenue that's why....

So you want the state subsidized fuel prices in Fairbanks? What you want the state to do? They won't build natural gas pipeline their is no need for it outside Alaska... Only way a natrual gas pipeline will be built is when their is a demand for natrual gas outside Alaska.

If you build something of your own - perhaps because you believe the gov't doesn't owe you; or perhaps because you don't qualify for gov't handouts- your place essentially has no value greater than pennies on the dollar invested when it stands next to the 'free stuff' which the gov't provides. IOW it's hard to compete with the gov't when they get involved in housing. It's a basic no-brainer that many folks don't think about.

So again where is the incentive to get off/stay off the gov.tit? People view reality largely based on their own backyard. Whether 'I' earned it or not- as long as I have mine- why should I worry about anyone else; that seems to be a prevalent attitude.
As I pointed out previously when the government gives the gov't takes away. Some gain- some lose. Anchorage (Ship Creek) only exists because the railroad came through. Wasilla would have been nothing had not Anchorage sprung up. It's kind of hard for the major population center to bitch about what other places get when they exist on the backs of some of those same places. Anchorage might be largely responsible for electing our representatives but they aren't elected to represent Anchorage alone - or Juneau- or Fairbanks; they represent all of Alaska - even those parts some of us don't care about.
So again where is the incentive to get off/stay off the gov.tit?
It might come in the form of a no bid contract, leases, mining, timber sales and tourism. Of course there will have to be administrators and workers. It might even be done in house, but highly doubtful.

Reality is, that capitalism has always provided the money for all the other isms.

Again, that sounds a lot like robinhood, take from the worker and give to the jobless. When the bottom fell out of sea otters, did the russians give the natives food stamps?

Everyone wants something for their buck, and some want something for nothing. You may not believe it, but I heard when times got tough way back, some folks out there turned nomadic and moved to a better place to survive.
Son of a liberal: " What did you do in the War On Terror, Daddy?"
Liberal father: " I fought the Americans, along with all the other liberals."
Again the existence of the largest population center in Alaska happened at the behest of the Fed Gov (and at the expense of private enterprise: capitalism in other places). Some people don't appreciate some things when they get them for nothing. I'm not saying it was a bad deal overall; but I also don't think it is unrealistic for the haves to correct some of what was ruined for some of the have-nots. Unfortunately defending that idea clouds some of the real issues that continue to be so wrong. (I would have a hard time saying that the 'railroad to Nome' is somehow worse than the railroad to Fairbanks some 90 years ago was however. In fact it might even make more sense.)
I have to say that living in Fairbanks does seem like easy street compared to life in the bush in so many respects. Things are so cheap.
Sometimes, the air you 'let in'matters less than the air you 'let out'.
I also don't think it is unrealistic for the haves to correct some of what was ruined for some of the have-nots.
I thought for sure Jimmy Carter was the last correction; but course, by the time obama is out of office, we won't won't owe anyone on the planet anything.
Although, the perpetual handouts will continue as long as socialists keep getting elected, or we go broke.

Far too many folks in the state believe that they have earned what they have without really thinking about what they are saying!
Examples: Mail Subsided, fishing and hunting permits/management-Subsided , fuel-Subsided, roads, airports. bridges-Subsided, police protection-Subsided, your flush toilettes-Subsided, clean drinking water-Subsided, all farming-Subsided ...Hell the first farmers in the valley were 100% Subsided.
With out the government's foot print this state would not exist. Pull all of Jber out and see what happens to Anchorage. Clost the university system and how will that impact your economy? the answer is Subsided
Take a few seconds before you pull the "F" bomb trigger and think about it.
The old and long gone statesman - Vogler, was a farmer .... turned over a lot of dirt as I recall ! ...Earth 1st, we'll mine the other planets later ...
