Decided to replace my broken Minox 1.5-8 with the highly regarded Leupy VX3 2.5-8x36. Mainly looking to see how low and what setup was used by those who've mounted one.

I sold this one, but here's a pre-64 Win M70 30-06 SG National Match with a VX3 2.5-8x36. I had to use an extender ring to get it to work since the mounting tube length is short. Talley lows worked. It's a great scope, which is why they fly when sold on the classifieds.

I like mine, sent it back for a CDS and have it on a very light .22-204 M-7 with 7 twist Brux.

What do you not like about the 2.5-8?

Just curious.

I have the same question...what about the scope makes it so unpopular with you? I ask purely for information. I was considering buying the Leupold VX3 2.5-8X32 rifle scope, but I value your opinion so I'm putting that purchase on hold, depending on what reason(s) you give for its relative unpopularity of the scopes in your stable.

I love them, have had 2.5-8x36's on centerfires, muzzleloaders and slug guns and have always felt good about them.

All fine examples fellas, keep them rolling in!

I've seen several here with Talley's, but few saying what ring height is used. Anyone have the Lightweights in X-Low configuration with this scope? Been researching, and that's the mounting system I'm looking at using, instead of the weaver rings & bases it currently has. Really like the integrated/minimalist design.

John,
I have not tried the X-Low's. My only concern with the X-Low is how they arrive at the X-low. If they accomplish it by a thinner base thickness - you're golden. If it's the actual ring height, it's going to be wicked close on clearance for the power selector.

Don't like the picture through one and I have to do more stock crawling when at the upper power ranges, they also aren't the best for a long action.

I prefer a 2-7x and a 3.5-10x by a goodly margin.
