I took my Browning 1885 45-70 out to the range this morning...first time since last September. I got the urge to shoot it again and took along several differnt bullets/charges using mostly Swiss 1.5 powder.

I was rather pleased at the groups and especially was surprised at the group with the 525 gr Postell bullet. I didn't expect it to do that well in the 45-70 but was pleasantly surprised. Before I got a chance to shoot that group an old timer(older than me even) came over and asked what I had and if he could shoot one. I gave him the heaviest bullet I had, which was the Postell, to see his reaction. That's why there's just four holes in that target. I don't know where he shot, maybe his own target.

The custom Brook's mould did well also and those weren't sized but slip fit. I think I've found a couple of pretty decent loads.

How close are you to Yellowstone? grin

It looks like you're onto something there!

Probably a good 1500-1800 miles. I'd have to fly for sure.
