Some folks like them, others don't. I really love them, and often make a lunch out of a can of sardines, some crackers and beer.
Today, it was Trader Joe's Wild caught sardines, packed in Harissa. Those are probably the best sardines I have ever had.
Washed them down with an ice cold Yuengling. Heaven! laugh

keep in mind "sardines" in the culinary sense arent a species of fish, they are a number of species of fish of similar size.....as far as a description its a size rating more than anything....sardine=any small oily saltwater fish that fits in a can whole for the most part......so different brands using different species and different preps can HEAVILY influence flavor

Love em. I drink the juice off the can!

Those sound good. Lately the ones we get are just chunks of fish. i prefer the smaller ones.

I love sardines. The small double layer King Oscar brand are my favorite.

I check all I buy for country of origin. Third world? Nope! Right now all sardines that I have been buying are from Poland.

A favorite snack of mine - a bag of Ruffles potato chips and chip dip made from a can or two of mustard sardines mashed up real well with a fork.

They always seemed so handy - stick that can in a pocket and have it handy in the woods. Every year for a number of years I would buy a can, open it, instantly be transported back to my childhood when I would open a can of Puss 'n Boots cat food for our cats, and take it up to my old friend whose senses of smell and taste had been destroyed by years of smoking and other vices.

Sardines always take me back to the movie 'The Burbs' with Tom Hanks and Carrie Fisher. They were sitting in their weird new neighbors living room and this freaky red headed kid came in with a can of sardines offering them to them as a snack. He'd stick the can under their noses and say 'Sahr deen?'. It was hilarious.

Mash them with a fork into a paste with boiled eggs, mustard and mayo. Eat on crackers with cheese.

Reminds me of the blind man who was walking past the fish market. He tipped his hat and said,"Good morning, ladies."

They always take me back to field exercises and deployments. Sardines in mustard sauce......never got tired of them, beat the hell out of MRE's. Still love them today with saltines and a cold beer.

I love them - sometimes I've even cut my lounge on the sharp edges while licking out the inside of the can.

I'd be reluctant to hunt with anyone that didn't have a good supply of Sardines, Smoked Oysters, and Kipper Snacks in their camp box.

Best Sardines I ever had were at a little place on the beach in Puertecitos in Baha. Not sure what kind of fish they were but the owner (Speedy) made em fresh every morning. No electricity within a hundred miles but he kept his beer (Tecate) in an old refrigerator and refused to serve you one before it had been in there for a while. He was a cool old dude though,,, retired from the Mexican Navy, and looked EXACTLY like Red Fox.

Warm Tecate and fresh sardines,,,, best breakfast I ever had.

When I was in high school I use to eat the Sardines in tomato sauce. That was thirty + years ago.
