I've got the first and second weekends off too. Hoping I don't have a tag left to fill by the third weekend.

I'll be in northern St. Louis County on the 13th. Won't start hunting until the 15th.

I had a buddy report from a scouting trip last weekend. Said it was looking bleak, but snow on the ground.

I'm trying a new area this year. Haven't been up since 2011 due to other hunts, kids, etc. We'll see how it goes I guess. I'll hit em hard for a week anyways. Never tried the second week, don't know what I'm in for really. If it's not going on the wall, it's not getting killed!

Checked my property Sunday mid day lots of rubs but only a couple of scrapes,Have been seeing a lot of does but no bucks.
Had two does in the back yard when I left this morning and had a narrow miss 1/2 dozen crossed in front of me a mile from the house. The corn around here is way to close to the roads.

Checked our stands today. The bucks are scraping pretty much everywhere. Aside from some butthead stealing a ladder stand - and being dumb enuf to put his stand 40 yds away - we are good to go.

Now if they just start chasing. .

Good luck all!

I think that monster on the conservation area I saw this morning was on a does trail but one can never know for sure. All I know is after I passed, I slowed down and looked back and he just lowered his head and started sniffing the ground and walking away on a mission

Haven't seen chasing yet, but they must be starting soon. I have seen a few does moving skittishly, looking over their shoulders - maybe trying to get away from some annoying buck?

Good Luck this morning people... The orange army is marching in MN right about now.

I happened to be in Fleet Farm in Rochester yesterday after work and can't believe the number of people fretting over what ammo to buy and a few buying guns. And than they wonder why they either can't hit anything or why they wound something and it gets away.

I'll be headed to SD for some archery hunting this evening and headed to Cotton, MN next weekend.

There chasing, had a young buck pushing 3 does this morning he was pretty out of breath buy the time he got to me.
I let the does go and he was about 3 minuets behind them.
That's my second 1911 deer 220gr Critical Duty quartering away
double lung and broke the off side shoulder dropped where it stood.
Im pretty impressed with the round's performance out of my commander.

They are indeed chasing. We had 4 hunters + 4 half day hunters ( boat motor threw a connecting rod - this will be very expensive venison for me!). I fellow killed a 7 point that was 5 minutes behind four does; another fellow shot a bigger buck just before dark that was following a doe and fawn and was out of breath. No word on recovery of that deer yet. . more later - time to suit up after seeing 2 hunters off.
