Coyote, I took my daughter out today to a half dozen different gun stores and had her handle everything in sight. As for the Savage Lady Hunter, she wasn't all that impressed. The "accutrigger" seem to be little more then a marketing gimmick. Think of it as a glock trigger for a rifle. In her opinion, the extra high comb just felt weird.

Of all the rifles she handled, the hands down winner was the Kimber Classic.

I recently came across and subsequently purchased a Rem 700 S/S short action mountain rifle in this caliber. Kevlar stock, 22" light contour barrel and weighs about 7lbs with nikon scope. Also it shoots 110gr TTSX wonderfully which are fairly soft on recoil. If you can find one, it may be worth a look. Compares well to the Montana just a couple hundred bucks less( don't even mention the ridiculous Ti prices). I am a bigger fellow and like my .308 Kimber Classic, but the Remington fits me better. I know this is for a woman, but I can recommend this one highly.

Thanks for all the input guys. Although the Kimber is a great rifle I have two maybe three to get so their price is out of my league. As sniper says, I don't paticulary care for the accu-trigger. I have one on a Savage 308 I carry while Turkey hunting just in case we see a pig. The rifle is a great shooter but I prefer the triggers on my Tikka's. I do have a great trigger after some modifying on my new Hawkeye 77. As I said before, in this part of the state the dealers really don't carry anything to try out for Women or Youngsters as they are afraid they will just sit on the rack hence my asking you guys what you think.

Coyote, Have you thought about used? I really like a 2 stage trigger, it's just that you must remember that is what it is when switching back and forth. Muddy

All the rifles the Gals have now are single stage. Don't want to confuse them especially the Granddaughters. I think I'm starting to lean more towards the Tikka compact as my Daughter and I both have the T3's in 7mm mag and they are tac drivers. Daughter also has a Hunter 308 that shoots under an inch group. Its cut down to fit her and also has an Edwards recoil reducer in the stock. No recoil at all.

Well guys, Got the Daughter the new Tikka compact in 7mm-08. It was a good choice. It handles everything you put in it. It is amazing at how it produces groups with a wide array of different ammo. Length of pull Is 13 inches, 2 and three quarter lbs of trigger pull, and mounted with a Leupold 3-9X40 with DNZ mounts and rings. It is a great little shooter.

Hey Billy, she loves it. We are going up north Deer hunting this week and she usually uses her Tikka 7mm mag but she says she is going to use this because it handles better. She shot a couple of the 120 Barnes and said she didn't even feel the recoil but she's going to stick with the Hornaday 139 grain.

Just a hunting update with the 7mm-08 for women. Went hunting this past week up north with my Daughter Sandi who was using her new Tikka compact in 7mm-08. You couldn't tear it out of her hands. She took a Buck moving at 258 ranged yards with one shot using the Hornaday 139 grain GMX factory load. She highly recommends this rifle and caliber for her fellow Women hunters.
