I have a Pre 64 .375 H&H that was drilled and tapped for .500" and the customary .330 or .440 OEM Warne & Talley QDs wich I'd like to use won't work. Should I go ahead and fill in (screw) the most rearward hole and have it drilled & tapped for .330 as there is enough room to do so or just only use one screw in the rear base?

But a rear base for a std M70 and have an extra hole drilled and counterbored. No sense drilling extra holes in a rifle when you can drill holes in an $8 scope base and achieve the same end without ruining any collector value the rifle has.

Call Talley and see if they would be willing to help.

I wouldn't want only 3 screws on a 375 H&H. As mentioned, makes more sense to have the scope bases milled to match the receiver than to butcher a classic action.

Thanks. I've ordered a larger base to be milled down.
