I paid $3.49 last weekend so don't feel like the lone stranger. People here are blaming it on the 10 cent fuel tax implemented last year. I guarantee you we are still at the bottom of the fuel tax list......

Me too. wink The gas prices seemed to climb with the elevation.

Surprisingly, you're in the middle of the pack with regard to fuel taxes.

Just drove cross country 3 weeks ago coming back west from the far NE. By far MO. was the lowest with the mid west states overall having lower prices than Can-of-duh, NE US, and western US, both in gas and diesel, although not as much in diesel as regular. This makes no sense to me as my understanding is theses states are further from refineries than the more expensive states.

edited to add: doesn't the price of gas always come down right before elections, then rise right after.

Are your new fuel tax revenues marked for specific areas (roads, education, etc)? That was a pretty big jump.

Years ago they instituted a 5 cent tax of which 2 cents went to road repair, 2 cents to education and 1 cent to cities/counties. This last one went to road repair but cannot be used for upgrades.

Fuel taxes can play a big role in the price you pay at the pump.
