Those others lucky enought to own a ZG-47 or two, do you have any suggestions on rings/mounts to use?

I would like to get it mounted as low as possbile, but I understand the bolt handle wont allow the lowest mouting ( accept on a few scopes where the occular is small enough.)

The lowest Alaska Arms mounts look nice, but not sure wich scopes that would fit them? Leupold 4x32 6x32?

I used medium Alaska Arms rings on my ZG47. The scope is a Vari X III 1.75-6X33. Bolt clearance is close but ample. I really like the setup.

The lows wouldn't have worked.

According to Leupold, the Eyepice diameter on that scope is 1.6".

How low the eyepiece diameter have to be, to get it to fit?

The eye-piece on my scope is 1.55". There is a 0.12" clearance between the bolt handle and the eye-piece.

The medium rings have a height of 0.40" from the top of the receiver bridge to the inside bottom of the rear ring.

Alaska Arms offers low rings that are 0.30" tall.

Would a Zeiss Conquest 3-9x40 or 3-9x50 fit?

Well, I just dry fitted a Leupold 2,5x20 in AA rings, LOW.
The bolt handle clears it just fine!

Now, I have to order a torque wrench to finnish the job.

Pretty cheap in Sweeden. Seen scores of them for $350.

Mine works fine with Alaskan Arms 30mm lows MEDIUMS. They are really nice mounts.

BIG TIME EDIT:I just went back and looked at my Brownells order and these rings are mediums, not lows.

What scope do you have in those rings?

Due to bolt handle shape, most scope eyepieces will not clear the bolt. The owner of AA, tells most to pick the tallest ones, otherwise one havs to alter the bolt handle.

I measured before I orderd, and my 2,5x20, which has a 1,4" eyepice.
My Leupold 4x33 has a 1,6" eyepice and did not clear the same distance, when measured, so I dont belive it will clear the bolt handle.

I measuerd weight as well. 3,8KG or 8,4lbs. For a 30-06

I am ordering a McMillan for it as well. Not sure if I should go for an EDGE or Standard fill. The standard fill weights the same as factory stock. The Edge should bring it down to 7,5lbs

Hmm....

I have a set of Low Alaska Arms on a 7x57 Brno ZG47 that wears a Leupold 4x33 FXII, and yes, the bolt handle is scalloped on that one, or it would not clear the ocular bell. I also have this same setup on a CZ550 9.3X62 that also required the bolt to be scalloped.

I also have a mint 30-06 ZG47 that I haven't been able to bring myself to molest the bolt, and a set of Talley screw lock rings clear the Leupold M8 4x28 ocular bell on that one, but not by much.
