Thinking of replacing the extractor with one from a SA Mag... but then how hard would it be to convert it to feed, from say an action that was previously 243... always wanted a model 54 Win in 30/30, but that would be sort of as easy as winning the lottery.... was thinking about doing one on the Ruger SA... thoughts, or more trouble than it is worth? thanks in advance...

TheKid Campfire Outfitter T Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 8,167	Unless you did the work yourself and had many hours of time that was worth nothing to you, I'm almost certain you could sell the 77 and buy a 54 and be way ahead. I don't see any good way to make it feed and I've seen 3 or 4 54s in 30/30 in the last year or two sell at gunshows for $600 or less.

gunswizard Campfire Ranger G Joined: Feb 2010 Posts: 17,792	Remington made a .30-30 on the 788 and Savage did as well. Neither of these rifles are in the same class as the Winchester M/54 but you might want to consider them.

IIRC, I gave $325.00 for it. Good honest wear. It shoots the Privi/ Monarch 170 jacketed flat points into a little over 1.5"@100. Last edited by TERRY8mm; 10/13/14.

I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally
