Here's how it all went down... I passed a nice 8 point and then a few minutes later 2 doe crossed 100 yds from me. A few minutes later I caught move movement about 80 yds to my right, 2 nice buck! At first glance they both looked to be shooters. They stop and face off and hit horns a bit. Then they move behind some brush and they start fighting for real, antlers were cracking. I then grab my grunt call figuring if they are getting giggy that they will want to investigate anther buck in the area. Sure enough with in a few minutes the 1st one starts coming my way. As he's coming in I decide he's not what I want although he's nice. the 2nd buck starts to bring up the rear but half way to me he cuts off into the thickets. I think figures, damn it! The 1st buck stops at about 25 yds looking my way and after a minute cuts away parallel with me. At this point the 2nd buck makes a fatal mistake and comes out of the thicket and starts to follow. I scan and find 1 window at 30 yds and when he steps thru I release. Initially I thought I shot over him, and was disgusted but I should know better. That arrow, slick trick and luminock passed thru him and stuck in the ground beyond him so fast it was deceiving! He ran out in front of me and circled thru the woods,I heard a crash behind me.I waited a few minutes and got down to check my arrow and it was covered in bright blood,at that point I knew he was dead and I'd have my hands on him shortly. Followed the blood trail and he died about 75 yds behind my stand.
I checked the video and I have it all and its not dark!! Also have video of the 1st 8 pt I passed. It takes a while to get it down loaded and then uploaded to youtube so I will post the video tomorrow I didn't get great pictures as it was getting dark but I took a few on the back of the jeep and in my shed. I have 2 deer to butcher so now the work begins!
Heres the video a bit long but its how it happened in real time You can here me grunt right at the start of the video, then a lot of watching and waiting as deer commit to come At the 5:30 min. mark 1st buck shows and at 6:17 he starts to leave just after 7:00 minute mark the buck comes out of thickets and shot comes at 7:18 minute mark
Swollen up already. WIll watch video on it later. Kind of cool getting it on video though. How many tags does a guy get up there? Can you keep hunting or done now?

Thanks for the screen shot! Yes single pin adjustable but I never adjust it. I know where to hold at 30yds also like leading a deer a bit while he's moving rather than trying to stop him. Stopping him will work some times orther times he stops out of your shooting window, other times he spooks and some times he just ignores you and keeps on at his pace
I'm going with the HHA single for the first time. Set it at 25 yards and I'm good from 0-30 with no problem (395 grain arrows at 286 fps). I better start dialing after that, but doubt if I shoot at a whitetail much further anyway.
Practice at 80 and 30 feels like a chip shot.
One pin is SOOOO much less confusing. If you think some of the long range reticles look busy, check out the SDP (Seven Deadly Pins).
I always shot one pin in the old days, but went with a fancy 5 pin setup when I bought a new bow last year. After one shooting session, 3 of the 5 pins got pushed to the bottom out of the way.
Who actually needs 5 pins these days, much less 7?
Great buck! You seem to really know what you are doing, you kill a dandy every year. Congrats.
Congrats on a great buck. And thanks for letting us come on the hunt with you. Great video!

Nice work!
80 yds!? You shoot a lot better than I do. Hell, I've shot a grand total of two deer further than 80 yds with a gun.

Only practice. You shoot at farther ranges than you would hunt and it makes it easier.

Those of us that hunt mule deer out west use a 5 pin system. Sometimes we even have to use it.
