Hey gang, I am just a lowly bee-ginner, not nearly the skill of what I see Herr Menefee and D&T and a host of others doing here, this is only knife #6 or 7, but I think this is shaping up to be a fairly nice one.

This is fresh off the $40 Harbor freight 1" belt sander, so it really has ALOT of cleanup and sanding to do, but this exercise was to teach me how to build up a knife with those eight irritating brass pins in alignment, get that flat at the front of the grip, and also a bit of 'wasp' shape to the body. My hands are just average in size, so the abrupt taper at the front and the smaller taper seem to fit the hand really good (poor English, I know)

Like I said, along way to go, but shaping up well.

Looking good. Don't be afraid to thin it down. Often a beginner's knife would look a lot better if he just took things a bit farther.

One thing I will mention is when you do thin it down use a belt heavy enough that you won't get the pins too hot. If you are hesitant to do that then use a rasp to thin it.
