Anybody know of a company that will issues short term insurance on a ATV or UTV? Normally don't need it but going up north Deer hunting with my Daughter towing my Rhino and would like to get it insured for the trip. This is California and you never know when somebody might T bone you while texting on their cell phone

When I had my 4whlr insured with Safeco I looked into just insuring it during hunting season and it wasn't feasible. I don't recall all the details but there were cancellation penalties or whatnot and basically Safeco frowned on short term insurance for what should be an annual policy.

I came to the conclusion to either insure it or not. The benefit of insuring it in the off season is it's covered for fire and theft which is not covered by a homeowners policy.

Dairyland insures my Mule and Polaris for about $250.00 per year.
For the pair.

Well worth it, IMHO.

Don't think you will find any company that does short term insurance.

Why just short term? Insurance also covers fire and theft. Theft is likely more common than being hit by a car while towing it. I'm with State Farm. They'll insure my old camp trailer for fire and theft for $20/yr (it's worth much less than any UTV). Accidents are covered under my pickup insurance since it becomes part of the vehicle while towing it.

This trip is basically the only time it is on the road. Mostly use it on a friends ranch during Turkey season and the rest of the time its around my property.

Shouldn't it be covered if it's attached to your truck? I'm pretty sure our insurance co (State Farm) told us that anything we tow with our truck is covered under our car ins policy.

That's ok, I'll ass shoot a dink.

I have Progressive through my Farmers agent. Pay about $125.00 a year to cover my Rhino and trailer against accident and theft.
