Does anyone use the Burris mounts for The Ruger No1 to change to using Weaver style rings? Pros or cons?

The only thing I've done is change to Leupold rings on my #1s; they are better made and classier than Rugers - and while a bit trimmer in appearance are perhaps even stronger than the Ruger cast rings

I have looked at them, thought they would add to much weight and clutter to the gun.They would allow use of a number of different ring styles.

Leupold Rings for Ruger as mentioned above do offer a different choice without the clutter.

I've not tried the Burris adapter just because it adds one more part to fail in what is a rather simple and solid system. I have used the Leupolds mentioned above, they are indeed a bit trimmer & lighter. These are High Leupold Offsets, useful for mounting Hubbles:



Another option would be to remove the quarter rib and use Weaver bases which are readily available (I might even have a spare set lying around). That is what I have on my No. 3; it isn't as classy as the Warnes, Rugers or Leupys, but certainly lighter and simpler.

+1 I really like the Leupold low rings on my #1A.

While we're at it does anyone know if a leupold m8 4x28 can be mounted in the aforementioned leupold low rings without quarter rib/ rear site issues?

Yes it can, no problem. I have that setup on a #1A.

The rear sight can be reversed to gain a bit more space, but I can't see that it would be necessary with a 28mm.

What bases are those? I am converting a ruger #3 in 45-70 to a 22 Hornet using a #1 barrel and want to use bases like shown above, or the weavers shown also.

I tend to prefer the Ruger offset rings. I never have seen the point of Hubbles

Hemi, those are the bases which come on a 1V, they interchange with the Weavers in my other picture.

Me neither.

I needed an offset ring a couple of years ago and those windmill towers were all I could find anywhere.

They have since been replaced with Leupy mediums.

The weavers probably allow more movement of a scope than those rugers. Looks like I should start looking around.
