Dat's a nice old gun. Isn't that the same thing Bell used to shoot cormorants out of the sky?

Hey Poobs, you know that WR I'm always posting a picture of? I just got a note back from Simon Clode of WR, and he told me that's considered a stalking rifle. I'm waiting to hear back to see what WR considers to be the difference between a stalking rifle and an express rifle. I'm expecting it's what you said before: barrel length, caliber, etc. I'll let you know.

Oh, and by the way, Simon said he took one in .275 Rigby, as well as a .470, on his very first African safari.

Bell was using an 8x57 of some kind...

He really liked the .318 and heavy solids. He said once in awhile an elephant would get out from under a good shot with the 275...figured the bullets veered in the target. He said the 318 never did...

Hmmm...why did I think he was doing that with a .318? My poor mind is getting all muddled.

Point of fact he may have been....the 8x57 WAS a .318 and the 8x57JS was a .323....

Ingwe: according to WR, an express rifle is "...large bore rifles and ammunition, typically used for hunting large or dangerous game at close range." Straight from the horse's mouth.

So here's a herd of rifles, ranging from .250-3000 to .500 Jeffery, some stalking, some express. I'd take these to Africa...if they were mine.

Nice selection of rifles. Notice how many are Mausers.

For a fine working rifle, what else do you need to know?
