Not a fan of it as it seems to vibrate and cause a lot more wear than it's worth. A guy I know at work was out with his brother in a new Chev with all four chained up last winter. Impressed with the traction provided by his chains they drove around most of the day pushing snow with the grill.
It wound up tearing up joints, bearings, tie-rod ends, etc. Expensive day of play.
I've done it in the past to get out of a situation, but after hearing this guys tale I'd probably not want to run them on the front any more than needed.
