Next year, I hope to head out east for a real open country speedgoat hunt.
It's matte stainless, 24", 1 in 8", two-stage target trigger, 8.125 pounds, laminated.... Most likely to wear a 5-15x42 mil/mil Vortex.
Is this rig worthy of this forum?

Depends on how it shoots I reckon. If it shoots good enough at long range to be hunting with it at long range, it's worthy no matter what it is, and if it doesn't .. it isn't. I think that's generally how it works. Tom

Curious on reports from other owners of the Predator rifles? So far I've seen no negative feedback. Have to find some ammo and give it a go.

Oregon: I just took delivery of the same rifle, AND might be taking it along on a goat hunt next Oct, depending on how it shoots. Like you, I did a lot of research before buying it and could not find a negative review of this model. I had this same caliber in a Vanguard S2 and sold it; didn't like the stock or "whippy" barrel. Really like the feel of this Ruger. Haven't fired mine yet but might be taking it back to ND in a couple weeks for my annual deer hunt. We should compare notes.

Joe, Pretty cool rifle. My 700s are already a bit nervous and I don't even have a scope mounted yet! Here's another thread, sorting out loads. Going to try mistem's RL17 140 NBT load. Then have more bullets coming. https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbth...72309/Re_6_5_Creedmoor_loads#Post9272309

I suggest you throughly clean/wipe down the exterior multiple times before really putting it to any use and continue to wipe it down/clean it like a blued gun with a weak bluing job for a while. I really like the matte finish on the SS Rugers, but have learned my lesson - the barrel receivers don't have a rust problem, but whatever they're using to beadblast them apparently does...
If you aren't careful with them when new you may end up with some cosmetic rust spot discoloration in your finish...

I noticed on mine that the exterior metal had a tacky, oily coating on it; what did you use on this?

I came really close to ordering one of those Creedmoor Predators but something came along and gobbled up my gun funds. Happens....
Looks like a great platform.
Now with even more aplomb

krumma - I'm likely to bathe mine in CLR but have no reference with Ruger's finish to go by. I think I have optics and mounts worked out and just need to get doing and stop surfing!
