Looks perfect to me. I'm a sucker for good fwt's though... 
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

7.5 pounds all up for an original fwt is light. Where you been? I know you've been dreaming up a super light pre 64, but that likely isn't going to happen. Just buy a Kimber like what was suggested to you in the thread you started. A sub 8 pound rifle is extremely light as far as I'm concerned. I use hammers at work every day that weigh more than that rifle for f ucks sake..

Good looking fwt. The only reason she is that light is density of the wood, I like the wood on that one as well. Plus1 on a nice one... winpoor

You missed out on a really nice fwt 270 at the gunshow yesterday. I also sold a 300H&H on Saturday. Mr Kob, Its a long way to Minnesota from SW GA. both of those guns are on bucket list, I need to move about 20 mod 70 out before I buy more very best winpoor

The 270 fwt's are great rifles, and this is coming from a long time 30-06 lover. Handwerk, again that is a beautiful rifle. I treasure my 30-06 fwt and after I got it, it kicked a few 30-06's out of the safe. They just didn't compare to the old girl. You'll understand what I mean after you use yours a bit. The fwt's are truly great rifles and as far as I'm concerned, a perfect weight for a man sized rifle.

bsa, I totally agree, my kids all have pre 64M70 fwts and I won't admit to how many I already have, both original and semi customized, they are a nice package and just keep working and killing stuff, I thought I'd get over it but many years later I'm still a sucker for them and most other rifles just seem boring.....

I looked over one of those at LGS. They had it for over six moths. The .30-06 rifle was unblemished and started with tag of $1999.99 reduced to $1599.99. Last time I have held it it was priced at $1299.99 and it did not last long with that tag. The rifle probably scaled at about 6&3/4lbs. Given the action length and barrel profile that was best possible caliber for the Featherweight type. I see no reason to want .270 as hole will be smaller therefore the barrel will be heavier. The .308 on the other hand would need shorter than standard length action. That is my final take on the Model 70 Featherweight sporting rifle.

Trust me you will like it and it will be light enough to suit you. It will even make Slavek think twice about the 270.....  All this talk on here has me wanting to weigh some of mine.
