Savage Hog Hunter $469

Ruger American $359

With the Savage I can have it as a mr potato head and hang aftermarket parts off of it. Not so much with the Ruger.

Opinions please!

I hate it when people do this...butttt.....Sportsmans Warehouse has Remington 700 adl at $379.....

Granted you'd have to hang some stuff on it, but you're still $90 ahead of the Salvage

I'd take the Ruger for the twist.

Take the Ruger for the twist and get on the list for Cotis mag extension so you can run ome longer bullets to take advantage of it.

No sportsman by me. Then there is that slow twist thing. My local Wally World doesn't have any 223 700s either.

I hear the rest of you on the twist being 8 instead of 9.

After handling the Ruger, I think I would go with a heavier barrel instead of the sporter. The action sure was slick though. Even the Savage was smooth. I have an action that is well broke in and didn't feel like these two.

The stocks on both are not confidence inspiring. Flimsy.

I keep thinking about the Savage because of the barrel swapping.

Look at a Ruger American Predator.. I have handled several Hog Hunters and were not impressed with the feel of them. I know they will shoot.. but just didn't like the feel.

I don't know why anyone would give a damn about the 8 twist. the 9 will handle just about all the good hunting bullets anyway. The stocks on both suck. Ditto the goofy Glockesque triggers. I'd not buy either.

I have noticed there is quite a difference in the stocks of the three americans I have .
the 223 stock is quite a bit more flexible than other two.

the triggers I have no problem with.just push in the blade, till you feel the face of the trigger, then operate as normal.

If you don't need the threaded barrel, Buds has the Trophy hunter package for $469. If you don't like the scope, you should be able to get $100 for it and be in it for $369. And if I'm not mistaken, Savage has a $75 rebate until nov 30th.

I'm fixing to buy a second one. The first one will put the 62gr ttsx into little bitty groups. My daughter has claimed it and will be getting it for Christmas. I'd give her a new one, but she has been stacking up the critters with this one.

KH,

Did you get the Marlin in TN. I've never seen one at any stores in Middle TN or at gun shows.
