I picked up a 32-20 at an auction. It is half round and half octagon. The bore has some pits but I would consider it average. It has a lower serial number and an old refinish of the stock. The rifle looks respectable and wanting to know about the approximate value would be. Thanks.

Using the SWAG method, $600 give or take a couple hundred either way.

I think the value depends on where you are. In the area I live (western SD,SE MT, NE Wy) hardly any "old gun" like an 1885 or Springfield, or Remington RB goes for less than $800 and most are either side of $1200.

Down here in the rich side of CA I haven't seen ANY original low wall for under about $1000 for a long time.

A .22 WCF with an antique serial number and in complete but very rough condition recently sold for $995 in a local store. Bore was like a sewer pipe.... Probably ended up on the wall in some hedge fund manager's den.

The value is whatever you paid for it of course.

If you want an accurate appraisal, you should get a professional appraiser to look at it and give you a written appraisal. Opinions from the internet are worth half what you paid for them.

Sounds like a pretty cool gun, though.

For $600, I would buy it without a picture.
For $1200 I would look at it closely.

I sold the Low-Wall for $1400 recently at a Gun Show. I could have received $1500 if I would have worked it right. The rifle had a 80% running bore. It was rated between 85% to 90% by a reputable dealer.
