working in the office today, drawing up wildlife habitat plans is fun! these crisp mornings and that fall smell have really got me pumped for opener on saturday! sat in the bow stand last night, saw 10 deer maybe total, 4 does walked by at 50 yards and I heard two bucks really getting after it on the ridge. I'd say the rut is ramping up in these parts

its about 36 here and flurries, its deer season. even had a few reports of bucks chasing as well. Game On!

A guy I work with said he saw a small buck scatter a few does around too.

I saw a small buck to but I didn't pay attention. I have the females on the brain now.

Man, there's a new intensity in the air these days. Stop by any sporting goods stores and you can see it in everyone's faces. The lookers are buyers now. Coats, knives, binoculars, guns. Oh yeah-it's game time. I work at Wal-Mart and swung through sporting goods last night as a father and son were picking up a slug gun and all the goodies to go with it. Budget be dammed, his son't gonna have a nice rig when the season opens. I stopped to talk for a second as the sporting goods guy and assistant manager went through the paperwork. They're heading out on a family farm south of the Twin Ciites. Lots of deer around this year, including a couple nice buck they've seen.
Everyone's got bucks on the brain. Have our archery guys seen much rutting activity yet, or is it still just a bit early. Man, I live for this this schidt! 'Not gonna get much sleep for the next week-that's for sure.

a bit brisk out dave, are you going to be at camp all day saturday. trying to get lestifer out again if he's able. I think she's been using some Tinks on him.. all he's doing now is chasing too.

It's about 32F and snowing here this AM. Got about 2" of white stuff on the ground as I type this. It won't last for more than a day or so, I'm sure, but it does get me charged up for our opener on the 15th.

Ground is covered here in Cadillac too. Crossing my fingers it sticks around long enough for my last bow sit Sunday afternoon.

Just about perfect. Rifle season opens in the morning, here. Gunna be another crisp one, but they are calling for the wind to come from the only point on the compass, that doesn't suit any of our 5 stands !!!

Unusual for this time of year here in South Carolina but we are forecast for what they call a "wintry mix" of precipitation in the morning. I am going hunting with two friends on one of our two leases. One of them killed a pig this am on our other lease which was estimated at 150 pounds. In the picture it looked bigger than that.

I woke up this morning to a smattering of snow on he ground. The wind was blowing like crazy. Ain't no self respecting deer gonna be moving this morning. Called it off and went back to bed.
