They are hard to find. Thus, I'd place a value of about $550-$650.00 on it. However, the Hawkey may be a better rifle since they have the 1 in 9" twist barrels and the older MKII .223 rem boat paddle had the 1 in 12".

Keep an eye on this one:

I'd say $350 to $400, is all I'd pay for one...

I had one that I sold because I don't care for the boatpaddle stocks...

I have kept two of those stocks... gave the others away, and replaced them with Hogue Rubber Stocks, or Boyd's Laminates...

I put one on gunbroker for a buddy last year and no joke it brought $700 with 19bids. The 223&260 in the boat paddle bring a premium

Yep. It's not about what "we think" its worth, or "what we sold one for, because we didn't like it", or "is all I'd pay for one". It's about what the market brings. Some comments on threads like these get ridiculous. If the OP wants to know what the rifle is worth in true market value, he needs to keep an eye on the one I posted. The op didn't say if the rifle he's looking at is stainless or blued. Obviously the stainless model will bring a little more.

This one is up to $500.00 now...It will probably bring close to $650.00.

Tell you what, you find one for $350-400, buy it and I'll give $450 for it and walk away happy. If you have some of the BP stocks laying around, shoot me a PM maybe we can work something out.

I'd buy the Hawkeye and then keep looking until you find just the boat paddle stock alone for sale. Although I really don't see what folks like about them, but that's just an opinion.....

If you can pick up the boat paddle for under 600.00 it's a steal for a short action.

I recently sold a 7mm-08 boat paddle for 750.00 and that was a deal to the buyer and also sold a .260 boat paddle for 1450.00 plus shipping. Yes 1450.00, not a typo.

Thanks for the input. I told my brother 5-550. The guy wants 900. With scope. But don't know the make...
I love mine as I shot one of my smallest groups ever with that thing.
Funny I gave 299 for it a Walmart close out about fifteen years ago..

Unless it's wearing 500 bucks worth of scope, it's not worth $900. Gunbroker is a great way to see high prices you'll rarely encounter off-line.

It sells for what it's worth in the eyes of the buyer. Gunbroker or otherwise. However, 100's if not 1,000's see listings and bid if it is something they are looking for. For many, it's much easier than doing the footwork from shop to shop or gunshow to gunshow. I've rarely seen the .223 rem boat paddle stocked rifles in shops or gunshows and I've been to many. Sometimes rifles end up in the middle of bidding wars and the online buyer may end up having buyers remorse when all is said and done. These days, many shops use the internet auction sites to set the baseline for firearm value. The new age is upon us O45 wink

All this said I wouldn't take 900 for mine. Even tho its not worth that. I would rather have the gun than the money..
And think I never gave that much for any of my 461 Sakos and not really fond of rugers.

Now what the hell were you guys saying about it only being worth $400.00?? This rifle is up to $749.50 with a day and a half to go:

rainerrifleco, you may want to rethink telling your bro that it is only worth $500.00 wink

It makes one wonder if maybe Ruger will bring the boat paddle back some day?

If they do, please let them put a pachmayr decelerator on it!!!!!!!!!!! That cheezy azz thing they call a recoil pad made by goodyear is not worth a damn.

Is it safe to say, we were all way off base here, as to how much one of these things is worth? Holy chit:

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=450572649

$1,100.01. You got to be kidding me. Who said they can get these for $400.00 again grin

BSA - Yup, that's crazy money for one of those. But actually, no one here said they could buy them for $400, Seafire said he'd only pay $350-400 if he was buying one.

That said, I bought one in 308 yesterday with a cheap Bushnell scope for $410 OTD and although it isn't perfect, it will do nicely at that price.

I've bought two in the last three years, a 30-06 and a 223, for $425 and $450, respectively. The 223 came with a Leupold. Gunbroker prices are amusing, to say the least.

O45, there are a lot of guys that buy and sell on gunbroker. Their prices are not only amusing, but it changes the game a bit. Like I said before, some shops even use their prices as a guideline and it sucks for some of us looking for good deals. Small town gunshows and old shop owners, that aren't on the computer all the time, are the way to go if you are looking for that stellar deal on a used rifle..
