The action is tapered top to bottom and the big wrench won't fit correctly; you need to make one.

Thanks for posting the link to the previous thread. It was Malm's pic that I must be remembering that someone used a Cresent wrench as a action wrench for a 99.

I use a 24" crescent wrench with a brass shim. Works great. Only had to take 3 barrels off so far though. A tight wrench is better than a loose one too.
