I am loving the Marbles knife in the second pic! All you need it red/black plaid and boots that lace up to your knees! Nothing like stalking wet woods with heavy wool and 16 in. LLBeans. That made me think of this: How'd you get my picture. BTW, I'll be using a Rem 141 .35 some this fall.

About a rod! No, it's one of the 28 inchers!

Great looking rifle.
I used to have thoughts of a 95 carbine in 405 Win.
But I probably wouldn't be capable of such vandalism......

Love this thread. I love my Kromer, also got a Filson mackinaw cap for Father's day this year, I been getting it broke in also. Seeing all these old rifle pics sure made me wish i had some money today, went to a big gun show and couldn't believe all the classic hunters there. I saw 4 different Rem 721's in 300 H&H, would love to own one of those some day.
keep the pics coming

I never get those damned fitted hats to fit right. They are either too damn tight or falling around my ears. I've thought about a Kromer but I'm just not in the mood to play shipping bingo.

2muchgun,
Love that model 71. Someway, somehow, I'll have one of those one day. I've got my dad's model 14 in 30 rem and his dad's 1899 in 250-3000. Shot my first deer with the savage.

Luckily, there are places here I can try them on, locally. A Kromer must FIT SNUGLY and looks/feels terrible if it doesn't. Order a size you would consider 1/8 smaller than what you need. They loosen up a bit. This place is great to order from: http://www.crystalfallstradingcompany.com/index-hats.php

Get 2, they're fun Do you handload your .30 Rem? My first deer rifles were the Rem 141 and a Sav 99 takedown in 300 Savage:

This is my favorite open-sighted rifle: It has a Redfield peep: Quite possibly the poster child "uber" rifle for the north woods, wool wearing, Krommer doffing, Marbles packing sportsman!!!! Very nice!!!

Good stuff kaywoodie! Seems like the older I get the more I appreciate things like my Kromer and a Filson or Woolrich mackinaw.
Toting a Savage model 99 or Winchester 88 along just makes me happy for some reason.
