So closer to a cliff line/light colored foliage the light splash back is bright enough to blind you.

Zebra light website gives me a headache... But I want one!

Agreed. I don't want to buy three of these to figure out which one I want. I don't understand "floody" and "cool white". I certainly can't decipher all the descriptions with one read either.

The two I own (H51w and H600w Mk II) are neutral white and it's a very nice "daylight" color that lets colors come through vs the cool whites that make things blue. I prefer neutral by a long shot.

As far as floody, both of my lights are "spots", but they have tons of nice spill and if you want to turn them into a flood you can put a piece of scotch tape over the lense. Here is what my H600w can do:

I use it 50 plus times a year to blood track it's great.

Just got a H52w. Seems pretty nice. There is a bunch of stuff going on with that one button, but it's not all that hard to figure out. For one AA it puts out almost as much as my Black Diamond spot (3x AAA) and it's not plastic. I'll let ya'll know how I like it after hunting season.

Huge Zebra fan, Thanks for the review JJ. My original Zebra Light has now been through both the washer and dryer twice.. Don't ask. Works great. Tough and dependable as a headlamp can get.

I think you guys have convinced me to sell my surefire headlamp and get a zebra.

i am sure its a great light, but i will never trust rechargeable batteries out in the field. I want to be able to find or just carry extra AA lith batteries with me. You can't really charge in the field. You can carry spare 18650's but over time they also drain.

900 lumens max with an infinite slide adjustment from 2-560 lumens. also a built in red, blue, and green led for reading maps, bloodtrailing etc.

After spending 3+ hours on the phone with Zebra Light's National Sales Manager and Tech guy, he informed me that the Panasonic 18650 Li-Ion cells will last 1+ years without draining completely. The optimum voltage when storing them is 3.7 volts, he said. Also, the "parasitic drain" (inside the light) is less than it would be just sitting on the shelf.

My point in posting this is that if I am going to be out in the bush for 1-2 weeks, a spare 18650 battery is all that I should need when using my new Zebra headlamp.

After having Surefire, Petzl, Princeton Tec... and others, Zebra Light gets my vote for being on the cutting edge...

ZL get my vote for being tough as fugging hell. You ain't gonna step on one and break it. Period.

I got the browning nitro for Christmas last year and have enjoyed it. IT's an LED a little over 200 lumens. They run on the 6 volt cr123's. Around $50 I think.
