Lots of good people in California.
Lots of good people left California.

WAY too many a**holes left California during the housing boom, and moved in to their new "homes" throwing their money and their attitudes around.

I've no doubt you are one of the good ones and wish you well.

I have friends who have done that. Small place in Wyoming + a motorhome and a small condo in Henderson, Nevada. When it gets cold in Wyoming, they are gone: either on the road or in Henderson for the winter.

If you are set on AZ, might check out quartzite lots of folks winter there. It's a couple hours from Phoenix on the 10. Might also check out the Bullhead city az / Laughlin nv area, lots of rv parks, cheap meals at the casinos a few of which have free dry camp spots. Colorado River is right there for fishing and you can hunt quail anywhere around and deer with in an hour.

I'm more interested in becoming a small town resident. Less people mean fewer problems & generally better attitudes...I have a nugget hunting buddy down in Morristown that I need to talk to. I'll be passing through there to see him & get his take on what'll suit my needs...also some prospectors down around Tombstone that I'm interested in talking to...a couple weeks checking out possible locations & I'll probably find a suitable place to park for the seven months it's supposed to take to become a legal resident. If I'm dry camping, it sure isn't gonna be in a casino parking lot...

Lots of places in western arizona that fit your bill. Not sure about the prospecting tho, lots of old mines around Oatman az in the valley where I live. If you decide to look around this part of the country shoot me a pm and I will help with any info I can give. If you end up in the east side I would look at the white mountains for your summer months
