Is anyone using the Barnes 130gr TTSX in the 308 Win. What do you think of this combination.

Lots of people use that combo. I loaded it for my dad and he got about 3,000fps with TAC and a 20" barreled 700. Killed stuff dead without shooting up a lot of meat. If not sweating wind out past 300yds, it is a neat way to go in the 308.

I've got a load with TAC that gets 3050ish from a 22" barrel. Haven't shot anything with it yet, but it is quite accurate and based on reports I see here have no doubt as to it's ability on deer or black bear. I didn't connect today, but was hunting in an area with a large black bear population. Saw lots of sign, but Yogi didn't show today. I didn't feel the need for a bigger gun or bullet.

I ordered some .308 130 gr TTSX to try in one of my .308's. Barnes website shows Varget as the most accurate powder, but I'd like to try TAC as well. What loads are folks using with this bullet?

Yep, been using them with 4895 for a couple of years. Great results. Dropped back to the 110 this year.

I agree with the choice of TAC for the 130 TTSX in 308W. 47.3 grains (near max in LC brass) is fast and mean. It's the best combo I've found for accuracy in my Tikka T3 and that rifle shoots just about everything well.

Have only shot one critter with that combo. A mountain goat last fall...I believe the bullet is probably just now leaving the solar system. Not much but solid bone is gonna stop one of those TTSX's at a range under 100yds.

48.5grs TAC
CCI 200
130gr TTSX
Lapua Brass
OAL 2.76
3085fps

4 shots from M7 that I had the original barrel replaced with a factory takeoff sporter contour and cut to 21".

I've killed about 7 deer with the 130 @ 3100 out of a 30-06. From 20 out to 435 yards. Never had one fail to expand; never had one not exit. Great performance on lung shots right through the biggest bones. It's a great combo!

Been shooting a max load of cfe223 behind the 130 and getting 3175 ish out of a Montana. If I do my part, it'll put them into 3/4". Shot 1deer with it so far. In behind the shoulder out through the flank. The deer died, so I'm happy with it so far.

We've shot a bunch (couple dozen) with that combination. Mostly using Varget at 3050 FPS. Kills deer very well. Range to 300 is fine, never tried more. Never stopper one in a deer. Never lost a deer with them. Never seen one fail.

You'd have a very hard time convincing me to load anything else in .308 Win.

I'll pull one out of a tree after the season is over. Doe took one through the lungs at 30 yards this morning and there was lung/blood EVERYWHERE.

I'm kind of surprised it didn't exit the 4" tree, but it went in already expanded.

How is it on game other than deer. Anyone have experience on elk or bear?

Yep, I've seen bear die to it and a guy on here just posted about his son killing a bear with it.

Bear ain't tough to kill. Can't say on elk, never shot one.

Gotta call BS on this.

The existence of CFE223 is an Internet rumor.

Yep. I copied steelheads load for my .308 that my son used. Check out the general big game forum under black bear. My son shot the bear in the neck and the ttsx came out the chest. Fantastic penetration.
