I have a sinking feeling that next week we'll find out our family Golden Retriever of 10 years has cancer. We've had two dogs in our 22 year marriage - both Goldens and both were amazing animals - perfect with our boys and other people.

So - we are thinking about another dog whenever the inevitable happens. I'm a big fan of the Golden and want another, my wife is thinking a smaller (mid sized) dog. I love the looks of the Duck Tolling Retriever and per the breed information they seem to have a similar disposition to a Golden.

What say the folks that have, have had, or have interacted with this breed?

Thanks,

Jeff

They are good dogs in general from my limited experiance. I have hunted over a few and everyone was a solid dog. As ingwe advised Sactoller is the man to ask.

My guess is the Toller is a very good breed. You may want to give the Boykin Spaniel a look too. My Boykin was an incredible dog in many ways.

I've had two males. Both beautiful dogs. They only have one drawback-----They require an awful lot of exercise! They are a very active breed--very kind --very loyal. If you have the space and the time, you can't go wrong. My first one just had to see a gun to run for the truck, and they all love water. Be forewarned, though, they will have you trained in no time!
