Kampfeld just fluted my 6.5x47, 700, now a 20" Light Palma (chopped from 22.5)
Use casual paper, but also hunting, stand and carry.
Wanting something not bulky, nor wide in the forearm, owned some Classic Hunters, feel like a McM Compact forearm length would be better matched to a 20" but this tube is likely too thick. Not into tactical style stocks, this will be run with BDL bottom metal unless I have a brain fart.
So in essence a stock that can be handled in the field, not just designed for prone or bench use.
Seen several Manners on customs which seem appropriate but I believe they do cost more right?
What would you Looney's do?

I love manners stocks, but I like the options McMillan has. Steely has a great suggestion. Along the same lines, a rem varmint would be great as it is set up for a heavier tube, but has a pretty short forearm that would look fitting on your 20" barrel.

Yea I thought about a Varmint too because of the forearm, but it really wants a bigger tube in my mind.

The HBR can work anywhere as well. The MooCow was a 243 WCF. I didnt like it. Way to short a barrel life. Nice performance. But the 243 is for someone who doesnt shoot very much... I converted it to 6.5x47 Lapua. The 47 is Superior to the 243 in every way.. dave

Wonder how all those Tac match shooters survive shooting 243s.... They must not shoot very much.

I'd try the Manners EH-4. Nice light compact stock.

I did not realize that Manners made a hunting rifle stock.

Good info, Ed, I believe many hunteres are using their stocks, SLG888 - Stoney - did one recently. If not mistaken, I heard Manners is working on at least one new offering...
Many good options and ideas, happy to hear of any others, or pics. Thanks all.
Scott, I kinda agree, this short LP contour w/flutes I am sure would fit fine in a sporter opened up, perhaps more fitting if you will than a stock made for a RVC/#5+ - my bbl should now weigh about like a #4 I expect since Karl had it.

Mountain Rifle is awfully nice, IMO. I wouldn't look past the KS either, but a 20" barrel probably will look a little short.

The 243 works, but the case sucks, and it does smoke barrels.
