I just cook up a bunch of stuff and throw it between a couple of pie crusts along with a can of cream of whatever soup and a cup of milk but here's the recipe I got the thickener from.
It's basically just gravy.

Yea,,, and they're hard to screw up since the pie dough's already made.
At least mine is. blush

ETA,,, I think they're especially good with wild game.
