The Lancer translucent mags look like they'd be quite handy. Which mags do you like better: PMag windowed, or Lancer translucent?

Is there some other variety that performs even more reliably?

I have used the windowed PMags and never had a malfunction of any sort. Plus, they are a breeze to disassemble and clean. The orange bar on the spring gives you a sort of round counter that is a handy feature to have.

I prefer Pmags, but the Lancers I have are just fine. If it came down to it, I would buy whichever one is cheaper, and that winds up being the Pmags.

guess I"m either old school, or just stuck in the mud. I am still using USGI issue aluminum mags. Never bought one of those plastic ones, as the ones I have function just fine. smile

I can't say anything bad about either. Id buy whatever was cheaper. USGI mags work also, just stay away from the crappy brand mags and you are good to go.

I'm split about 50/50 between pmags and metal mags with magpul followers. I choose what I'll use based on who I'm shooting with.

Folks will walk across hot coals to steal a Pmag off the ground. But I've seen people walk across a range to grab a far-off magazine and then toss it back down when they realize it's aluminum because "those don't work".

So when I'm shooting with strangers I always use metal mags.

I keep my 20 round USGI mags put up and my USGI 30's have Magpul followers and stay loaded but put up as well.

My Pmags get used and abused, I guess I should start trusting them eventually.

steel feed lips and steel mag catch surface with no weight penalty and can see if they are fully loaded from any angle.

Yes, I meant AWM. So, have you had any trouble at all with your Lancers?

I walked through a gunshow yesterday with my wife's cousin, who's quite a bit younger. He's a 33 yo Navy vet. Great kid. There were a ton of Colt aluminum mags some guy had-about $13 apiece. He asked me if they were any good. I replied that they were fine. Not too long ago, the Colt's would have been considered top-shelf and wouldn't have been that easy to find. I don't know if they are or were any better than USGI, but because of the name they were always in demand. Now it's all PMag.

still strikes me as humorous. Tricked out ARs, with rails, lights, Magpull furniture, special front hand grips with built in bi pods..........
And special magazines, special followers and the like. Folks spending thousands on their AR, to make it look more 'tactical'. Yet, not a damn one of these will ever get a more strenuous workout than a trip to the range. No one is going to man the barricades, emerge from an APC to do battle, to head out to tackle the zombies.
All fun and games. Expensive fun and games, but just games. laugh

so, tell me Sam-I-Am, when is the last time you used a gun for anything but recreation. do you buy cheap guns? what mags do you have for your 1911?

I for one am happy to see top shelf kit in the hands of citizens.

no problems, but I use 10 and 20 round mags almost exclusively, so I can't speak at all for the larger mags.

No problem here with what folks do to/with their ARs. I was not being judgmental, just stating that I am amused by some of the culture. smile

Sam typically posts pics of himself hiking, hunting, etc. with the guns he owns. His guns obviously get used.

I never leave the house unless my Pmags match my belt. How embarrassing would that be?

I'm thinking about getting some clear mags for the days when I'm not wearing underwear.
