We have a warming air mass in for a few days here, I havent been able to get into the woods, since last monday, snow realy settled yesterday and got into low 40s over night. my friend has 15 acers across the road from me and lets me cut wood there! he has a snow bike and has been rideing it all over and back into the woods. so I desided to go across the road and hunt. followed some of the bikes tracks near a blowdown that has a great deer trail near it, easy walking was in there at daylight , right after a big doe and 2 big fawns walked by at about 30yrds! one shot useing a limb as a rest droped the old gal. Savage 1899 1917 22HP UMC rem 70. solfpoint !Neck shot, only 1 field pic came out and it started to drizzle, I went to work. even got my prowler close to her took a few more in the garage! I do have a Stith and a early Lyman Alasken scope with the open adjustments and a single pointed post Ill tex Rory a pic maybe he could post it for me!

All right!!!! You go, John!

That settles it. Call it kismet- you just made my mind up over which rifle to carry next week. The .22 HiPower it is! (I've been hoarding a stash of RWS 5.6x52R ammo loaded with the 70 grain H-Mantle bullet that'll be my lucky juju.)

I hope you can get a pic posted!

Congratulations John. Nice deer. Beautiful Rifle. Our snow down here in southern MI disappeared last night. Listened to weather report and sounds like it will be back by Thanksgiving.

congrats!

It's been WAY too warm here..actually got up to 61deg. yesterday..

I have only seen 2 deer for about 3 seconds yesterday both moving about 20mph! Buck chasing a doe... I couldnt get either to stop for a shot.

It's raining today and warm again... I might not go out again till next season and see what happens..

Thanks for the pics!

Congrats on the freezer fill. Even my kids know does eat better. We have 30-40% of our corn yet to harvest, and our deer are still pretty much nocturnal. Last week 9F-15F highs with 20-30mph winds. Today 61F with pouring rain. Nothing moving, unless it is dark.
We have gun season now in IN. Muzzleloaders, shotguns, pistols, or rifles that shoot pistol rounds. I swear I hear a deep sigh from my Savage when I drag my .58Cal muzzleloader out to play.
