Ive seen some really excellent European mounts ......

Note how they cut the skull. It's a clean look. I have a lot of European mounts from the states that I wished looked this good.

Dogs did a great job and all came home without serious injuries.

BW, are those boars any good to eat and do you make roasts or just sausage if you eat them?

Depends on the age of the creature and whether the boar is in the rut (disposed in that case) or not. Old boars usually end up as sausage.

This past weekend we canceled our only driven hunt invitation and used the moon to take our chances on fallow deer and wild boars in my girlfriends hunting area.

2013 was truly an annus horribilis. 2014 seemed to be the year happiness was coming back, but eventually turned out to be a much more horribilis annus than 2013.

I now hope 2015 will bring many better and good things, and I wish every one of you, here, at the campfire, a very happy new year.

Meanwhile, Here are some pictures of the 2014 fall season and around. I was very glad to hunt this season and to spare so many good times with my hunting friends.

First drive and first shot of the season:

Point blank shot in the high dense blackberry bushes, as surrounded by the herd. Missed a very big one so close it was not possible to shoulder the gun.

The old GSP superbly retrieving and bringing back a pheasant after an excellent pointing action

The young griffoon seemed to be a very good hunter. He started to point, retrieve and bring back at 7 monthes and performed many excellent pointing actions.

The day I shot 2 roe deers. The first wild boar was a powerful 280 lbs tusker, pretty dangerous which caused heavy damages to the beating dogs.

Testing a nice 30-06 Sako IV which I used to kill that young roe. THat shot apart, I mostly used my old 7x64 European Browning this season.

Some venaison pasta sauce. I tried it with roe deer, hare and wild boar, wild boar is the best.

Roe deer is the best for steak and lasagnas ...
