Since my son shot his 2014 Black Hills deer, a 4x5 whitetail with an AR, I thought I would post pics here. Offhand at 83 yards. Black Hills Ammo 55gr PSPs:

And a pic of his Pheasant hunting success, taken with a 12 gauge Benelli Nova:

Nice animal, but you should tell him you can't kill deer with a .223.

Congrats, I get more excited seeing my daughters success than my own.

Oh and the 223 won't kill a deer...

Thank you. He was pretty excited. He's had good success hunting and is a good shot. This is his first big game animal with his AR, he has shot plenty of prairie dogs with it though. He usually uses his Thompson Encore Hunter in .308. He's a senior in high school and is looking at going to West Point or the Navel Academy. He has his congressional interviews coming up the first part of December. This will probably be the last deer season for him for quite sometime.

Reminds me of years gone by.

I used a mini-14, and blackhills ammo. I was glad that it only cost about 11 bucks for 50 rounds. Lol.

That was a while ago, blue box Black Hills Ammo for 55gr PSPs is $26.00 a box of 50 around here.

Great job, those Black Hills deer are getting harder to come by aren't they.

Yes, I have 5 years preference points after this years unsuccessful drawing. Not the biggest deer by any means, more your typical Hills buck but I'm really glad he was able to fill his tag.

I think they are going to change the draw process next year, we shall see. Good luck to you with those pref pts.
