Is what I went with on my refurbished Sako FN 300 H&H mag. Nice looking and thin bands for rings. Well today things went to [bleep] at the range. Upon pulling the scope today the bases were unstable. Found both the forward screw in the front base and the rearward screw on the rear base sheared off. Any one had something like this happen? Or might have an idea on the cause. No more than 30 rounds through the rifle with that setup. Anyhow had some Leupold QR rings and bases onhand and they have been installed in place of the S&K's

Nope. No issues here. Any chance the front screw was too long or either were too tight? I would give them a call. They are good folks.

Same here, no issues and have them on four guns including a 270 WBY Mag and a Sako 300H&H. Like EdM said, give them a call.

I have used S&K rings and bases, on several rifles, for many years. Never had an issue.

No issues here. Sounds like bad screws to me. I would replace all four base screws with better fasteners.

I do believe the screws were faulty. The heads sheared off and I know they were only torqued to 25 inch lbs. Going to leave the leupold QR's on for awhile.

I've used this type base and ring almost all of my hunting career. Never a problem. I was going to say maybe tightened them too tight but 25ip is not too much. Some very weak screws. Give them another try. You won't be disappointed. powdr
