I just returned from a hunting trip in west Texas. I never did see the buck I was after, but did shoot this fat little slick 6:

The buck weighs 155 pounds. This is the first animal that I have shot with this bullet and I was curious about it's performance. I shot him as he was chasing a doe, distance about 60 yards, muzzle velocity ~2950fps. I hit shoulder muscle on both sides, but missed bone. At the shot, the bullet could be seen striking the dirt behind the animal as it completely penetrated. The buck ran 30 yds leaving a generous blood trail and dropped.

This is the entrance:

This is the exit wound (shoulder removed):

I was pleased with the way the bullet performed. Even though shoulders weren't broken, the bullet obviously expanded and made a quick kill. There was little blood shot meat, especially considering how close the shot was.

Very nice. Seems like it worked pretty well. Heard good things about the LRX's. Seems to back them up.

Looks like a good choice for the 6.5 bore.

Congratulations on a good looking buck!

good write up and a good deer. Congrats. I also have a Creedmore and although I have not begun loading for it when I do I'll look at the LRX based on your work. Thanks.
