I looked at a lightweight Mannlicher stocked Huskvarna today. No model number anywhere. Serial number is 237346A and 20" barrel is marked Husqvarna Vapenfabriks A.B. .308 WIN". Safety is sliding type on right side. Looks like a small ring Mauser with engine turned bolt. Stock is very well done with 20pt checkering. I did not have a chance to disasemble the rifle, but I believe the Mannlicher stock is made in two pieces like the old Sako carbines. I did find a small hairline crack at the tang. I'm in to full stocked rifles, but this is the first Huskvarna full stock that I've seen. Any and all input on this rifle would be appreciated.

You need to describe all markings and where they appear.

If the price is anything reasonable, buy it! The full stock Husqvarna rifles are the rarest model, very handy to carry, and swing and point like an extension of your arm.

Model 458 has a monte carlo stock, 456 is the classic low comb. I have owned a number of them in 308, 30-06 and 7X57. All of them shoot very well.

I live in Sweden where Husqvarna rifles are very common, and I recall seeing only one of the full-stocked versions.

The full length model is a 456 and chambered for 30/06.

The rifle could be the twin to Steelie's with the exception of a very mild monte-carlo. His rifle looks to have the two piece stock also, but the bolt and extractor have been engine turned on mine. Only other markings are NITRO and crown (proof?). Front sight is till there, but rear is gone. right side of receiver has two blind screws, probably for a receiver sight. The whole rig complete with VxII, 3-9x40 goes 7 pounds and points like a bird gun. According to the serial number, rifle was manufactured in 1959

I am also into mannlicher stocked rifles and it has been my buying experience that the Husqvarna mannlicher stocked rifles imported for a few years by S&W, S&W's Modesl D & E, are more common than the Husqvarna branded rifles, even though the Husqvarna rifles were available for a much longer period of time. The Husqvarna mannlicher stocked rifles are my favorites, as they balance and point so well, at least when compared to many other mannlicher stoced rifles. Once you've used a Husqvarna mannlicher, those sold by CZ, Interarms, Mossberg, and Winchester feel like fence posts.

A store in my area has a Husky 30-06 for sale it has the old
FN Mauser action I believe it is a featherweight model. How
do tell what model you have? No model number anywhere.

From the pictures from gunboards one member has the exact rifle
and calls it a D.

The Model A has a 23 3/4" barrel. The Model B has a 20 3/4" barrel. The Model C has a cheekpiece on the stock and is otherwise same as a B model. The D model has a Mannlicher stock without cheekpiece. The model E is in a Mannlicher without a cheekpiece.

SBHVA can speak to this topic better than I can, but, IIRC, S&W imported 5 different style of rifles built by Husqvarna, their Models A, B, C, D, & E. All 5 styles were built on both the HVA action, earlier imports, and the improved 8000/9000 action, later imports.

The A had a monte carlo style of stock of light/blond walnut with a contrasting piece of rosewood or ebony as a fore-end tip.

The B & C differ only by the style of the stock, the C having a classic style with a cheekpiece and the B having a monte carlo style. Both the B & C featured light/blond walnut and had schnabled fore-end tips.

The D & E are the mannlicher stocked versions and differ in the same ways as the B & C.

The one I mentioned doesnt have the mannlicher stock, I beleive
it has a 22" or 24" barrel, kind of a beaver tail fore end and
definately an FN Mauser action.

Few things I'd like to have more than a Husqvarna Mannlicher.

The rifle Stoneybroke is talking about is a model 458 which is a fullstock (Mannlicher) with a Monte Carlo comb and a cheekpiece. The model 456 in Steelhead's picture has a straight comb with cheekpiece.

The stock is made in 2 pieces and is glued together with a dowel.

I have a 1961 Husqvarna Mannlicher .270. It is not stamped with the S&W logo anywhere. Serial number is 255090 A. It is also different from any other rifle that I have seen because it has a "spoon" European style bolt. Any idea what model this is or the value? I am contemplating selling the rifle.

here's a monte carlo version in .243 along with a couple of Carl Gustaf's in .270. All are tack drivers.
