Thank you sir. The first bull with the mature gentleman as the hunter, was hunted in the Eastern Cape. He was completely done. Not sure he would have made the end of the week, let alone the winter. The first time ever that I have seen a Buff go down immediately at the first shot.( Frontal chest shot) The old boy just could not take the punch, "even" from a .375
The two Buffs after that was a 2 on 1 hunt, which was conducted in the Limpopo province in the Klaserie area next to KNP.

Not to much to smile about when you live in Russia... wink

Just kidding, but in all seriousness, although I guided this hunter through a translator, as he could not speak a word of English, he's one of the nicest guys I've had the pleasure of guiding. (Well, either that, or the translator was the nicest guy.....)
BTW, the Sable fourth photo from the top, belongs to the same hunter.

Awesome trophies. I don't even want to know the trophy fee on the sable, but I suppose it's a lot less than 21 days in Zambia. That guy will have plenty to talk about back in Russia. Bet Putin doesn't have an Nyala!

Hey Eric,
The hyena hunts are right up there with some of my most memorable hunts of all time. It's a very rewarding hunt that culminates from the work put in beforehand. Like Hannibal use to say, " I love it when a plan comes together."

Advice # 1: Walk around the bush, not through it.

Is that the African equivalent of 'Do not eat the yellow snow?'

Close enough smile

#1 Watch where Marius steps then step there also, the thorns are nasty. Thorns have thorns, the water has thorns and the air has thorns!! Take a pair of tweezers and some anti-septic, leather gloves (I used mechanics gloves)
Wool? Yup July in SA is winter time, I had beautiful weather but I did wear a wool sweater under my jacket some mornings. Don't forget the gloves and watch cap also. The fleece ones at cabelas or bass pro are PERFECT, I left mine with Lloyd for riding in the back of the truck.

Also, lest I forget, bedroom slippers!! Yup the tile floor in the chalet is cold on bare feet in the mornings,
I took long johns but only wore them the night I was so sick (stomach bug - 24 hour and good as new)

Tip 3: Don't wear shorts. Shorts are for PH's. PH's are hard men. Some say they will wrestle a Lion with their bare hands... smile (Trying to control my laughing while typing)

Doug, you make me laugh. Looking forward to seeing you in Jan at the South East Outdoor Expo in NC my friend!
