After eating "tag soup" on my stone sheep / grizzly hunt in early September I headed east from the coast for our annual Monashee whitetail hunt. 3 days of heavy snow fall resulted in almost zero deer movement but it finally abated early on the 25th and I went and sat in a tree stand in my "honey hole" at dawn. 20 minutes after I got in this guy appeared- in my peripheral I saw deer... buck... shooter... dropped my mitts on the stand floor and cocked and brought my (new to me) TC prohunter 45-70 up. I had a small shooting window and he didn't look like he was going to hang around long so it was on target and "bang". He did the classic tail down bolt and I was sure I had him. Blood sign pretty much confirmed it and I found him piled up about 50 yds from the stand.

Well, apparently.

Mainly by utilizing a magical instrument, known in some circles as "the Williams peep sight". smile

Tuffcity;
Thanks for sharing your late whitetail hunt with us and congratulations on that nice Monashee buck. cool

We had a weird year here for whitetail in that I couldn't seem to pattern them and when we got the big dump of snow last week they moved into new digs before we could intercept them.

Again congratulations on the nice buck sir and all the best to you folks this winter.

Congratulations on a nice buck. The trail cam pic is the best! I decided not to shoot a whitetail for the third year in a row now, our WT numbers are down in Sask. and I have other stuff in the freezer. Nice to see you get a good one!

I thought for sure I had a "live" picture of him on that cam too. Didn't realize until after I pulled the camera that the snow had pushed the limb down and blocked the shot.

Oh well... know to check that next year! smile

How could you kill such a beautiful annimule?

But aiming just behind the shoulder and putting a 325 grain bullet through his lungs.

Hunts: the prohunter is a great rifle, and with the 20" barrel its very nice to pack around,

You should add that photo to the 2014 where/how they fell thread.

CONGRATS !!! Sweet buck.

Well at least I have a freezer with some moose and some elk giving to me by my hunting buddies. My tags I had are filler in the soup pot. We got 3 bull moose on our annual trip. 2 guys got cow elk just a couple days ago and shared.

My hunting season was cut out for last half of November with knee surgery. Always next year !!! Might just have to get out a plug a few coyotes and wolves if I get a chance to hear a rifle of mine bark...lol
