Recently purchased a 1974 production 336 in 30-30 win....someone added a recoil pad. I would like to return it to original condition.....need the correct pad.

Brownells has the reproduction buttplates that aren't half bad. I ordered one and it took just a couple minutes sanding down a couple spots where the new buttplate was proud of the stock. IIRC they were about 12-13 dollars.

I was going to do that with a 336 I was rehabbing for a friend, but when the pachmayar pad was added, whomever did it removed about 7/8" off the stock to retain the LOP. It would have been easy enough to sand down the circumference of the new butt-plate but then would have had a 12 3/4" LOP. Make sure it hasn't been cut at all.
