That's just a nice shot there Kaywoodie. Kinda like Rachel Welch on the hood of a '63 Vette! This is the best I can do tonight. Pardon the off brand one in there, it's just to accentuate the beauty of the Winchesters. That carbine in the middle has killed tons of deer in the hands of my late father. Age top to bottom 1955, 1938, 1936

Beautiful guns! You all are a bad influence is all I can say. Makes a person want at least one of every model lever action Winchester made.
There's 2 dates they carve on your tombstone. Everyone knows what they mean. What's more important is time that is known as the little dash inbetween.

I like the 64 - really nice feel and balance to them. That and a Model 71, and you could hunt about anything.

If not, I'll bring it back if he has another! Got plenty ammo!!!! I think I'm gonna haul it down south in a few weeks. Just it case.

no, unfortunately not. Bring it next time For some odd reason Winchesters have been sparse in my collection, though I do still have my original .45-90 High Wall. And a M94 in .44-40, which is kind of unusual

Those sure are nice Pat! One chambering you don't see too often is the .25-35. My father had told me he had originally ordered his 64 carbine in .25-35 but when it didn't arrive by deer season he took the .30WCF the dealer had instead. Pretty rare, probably Loggah's got one though

Yes, and the other is the .219 Zipper. Held a genuine one in rough shape once. 26 inch barrel, bolt peep manufactured in the late 30s.

I always liked the 64's. A friend had one years ago in 30-30 that was his mother's elk rifle. When I handled his I had to have one. This is my Model 64 that I repaired after it had been attacked by Bubba with a hammer and grinder. The stock was shattered in the wrist and wood had been chiseled out around the lower tang-I have no idea why. The sear was ground to a knife edge. The forend was cracked and the magazine hanger and its mortise was mangled because Bubba hammered it out sideways. The forward end of the mag tube was mashed and belled where it had been hammered. The back end of the tube was burned where it looked like Bubba tried to weld it and then it had been ground down. There was probably more I am forgetting. Other than that the rifle is in good shape. Bluing is good and the original finish on the wood is mostly there. The bore is pristine and it shoots its favorite loads well. The rifle was made in 1939.

My wife Cheryl spent some time taking a few pictures of my 64's this morning ,here they are. these two rifles are pretty early one is 1933 and 1 1935,both s/n in the 109xxxx s/n range. The upper one is in 30 WCF,the bottom one with the killer wood is 32 ws.They have the slim forends. the next picture is of later rifles they are all 30-30 cal. and the bottom two are "THE DEER RIFLE" meaning deluxe models.

What years were the zippers produced in the 64s. What I could find out it was from 38-41. Is this correct?

tmitch, thanks. I spent a lot of time on it. I didn't know how bad it was when I bought it but fortunately I didn't pay high dollar for it. The rifle was in really nice shape before Bubba attacked it. I don't know why somebody would do that?
It didn't cost anything to repair it except a lot of hours. I had a spare sear and glue for the stock. I spent the most time on the mag tube. Both ends were mangled but the bluing matched the rest of the rifle so I wanted to save it. The bluing has a gray cast to it that would be hard to match. I cleaned up the ends on the tube and extended the front end of the tube. The bluing was the best inside the forend so I swapped ends on the tube so the good part was exposed and the repair is inside the forend. I was able to straighten the mag tube hanger pretty well and peen the dovetail back into decent shape so it all came out decent. To repair the stock I drilled holes into the fractured areas from the inletting and injected epoxy until it oozed out all the cracks. It came out solid. One thing left to do is repair the finish where it flaked off around the cracks. I am going to try hand rubbing it with varnish to see if I can get it all to blend in. It turned into quite a project but I am happy with the result.
