Quickload is a computer program that allows you to input pretty much any powder/bullet/cartridge combination and get a predicted velocity and pressure for a given barrel length.

you can also use it to search for the most qualified powders for your needs.

Quickload also comes with Quicktarget,an exterior ballistics program and your results from Quickload can be rolled right into Quicktarget where your drift and drops can be viewed or printed out.

this is the quick and dirty lowdown. there are a bunch of features that I've not used yet and I've had QL for years.

If you want to see a spreadsheet generated by the latest version of QL just post one of your favorite load recipes.

Include caliber, followed by the bullet (weight, style, manufacturer) powder and charge weight and the OAL length of the round and I'll run it and post the spreadsheet predictions for you.

I'm not intending to hijack the original post, but I'm new to the forum, reloading, and a custom rifle. I have just started developing a load for my re-barreled rifle, and am curios to compare quickload data to what I see at the range. I've also been interested in trying to figure out what kind of Optimum Barrel Time QL predicts. I don't have a chronograph yet, but this is what I'm working with:
260 Remington M700; 23.7" barrel, 1:8 twist
Berger 140gr Hunting VLD; Nosler Brass, Fed 210M primers; RL-17 powder
.010 Jump; 2.887 COAL; 2.227 CBTO (measured w/ Hornady comparerator)
Bullet length 1.421; bearing surface 0.500
So far I have just shot 39.0gr of Reloader-17 as a starting point, and played with seating depth. I saw no pressure signs. I would randomly guess I'm getting about 2650 fps. I have loaded up 38.5; 39.0; 39.5; and 40.0gr next. After reading about Optimum Barrel Time, I'm curious if I will see any matches in accuracy with what QL predicts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BE WARNED: QL CANNOT ADJUST FOR BULLET JUMP. The user can kludge one or two things, but it cannot model the pressure changes attendant different amounts of jump/freebore.

The exception is the upward adjustment of "start pressure" by 7200 psi IF you're seating long enough to contact the lands. It WILL alter the pressure curve.

Indeed it will. That's one of the kludges I was referring to, which is more of a 'guess' to make the program output match what you're observing in the field than anything else.
