And who on earth says...it has no more than 4 to 10 rounds through it. I think I shot it 4 times or 10 times. Or I really don't know?

This is the way to go for sure; I just built one using leftover parts including an Apex rifles take-off I'd gotten here for $60-ish. Need to get some photos up; it's gorgeous and I have maybe $200 into it.

Shodd--I'm pretty sure the Sako warranty doesn't apply to the second owner, at least that's what they told me about my Tikka which was NIB, I'm the second owner.

What's the practical difference between the 6.5x55 and the 7mm-08?

The swede is WAY cooler, that is the only practical difference.

I've got a 6.5x55 Sauer 202, never shot it but t looks nice sitting in the safe.

Years ago I wanted a 6.5 x 55 in a Model 70 Featherweight...

so I found one with a shot out 30/06 barrel with a nice factory laminate stock, for cheap...

a nice barrel from Pac Nor and a month at Kevin Wyatt's shop and I have a 6.5 x 55 in a Featherweight with a 26 inch barrel and a one in 8 twist...

Was strolling through Green Top and they had it on the used gun rack. I could hardly contain my wallet fast enough to get outta the store.

Stumbled onto this cherry CZ-550 from Arms list last year,got a great deal for an almost new in the box rifle. Planted my older Leupy dust catcher on board and it was good to go.Shoots great but a tad on the hefty side a price you pay for European style points..

i bought one of the browning's in 6.5 from a dealer who got it from grice's in clearfield. looks great. can't wait to shoot it. got brass and dies on the way.it is 1 of 50 that was a special run, only made 50 of them.

It doesn't offer anything equal to the 270 Winchester in factory loadings, and yet is run in long actions. Why would the average American want one, other than looneyism?

And yes, I run 6.5s and not 270s, but I hope I qualify as a looney.

It's simple, do you want to use something that will just bounce off of a deer or use the 6.5 and kill the deer.....

This is where I netted out. For same weight bullet configurations (107/110, 129/130, 160/160), I can load my .270 Win DOWN to 6.5x55 velocity/recoil all day long, and then load it UP when needed. Apart from "cool factor" not certain what all the 6.5x55 fuss is about...

... Says the man who built the LH M70 in .300H&H for the "cool factor".

I think what is missed by some is the 6.5 swedes ability to shoot bullets with similar sectional density (penetration) and trajectory (effective range)of larger bullet/caliber combos without the attendant recoil.

You may not get more but you get the same for less.

I got my 6.5X55 Tikka after a year's wait. It was worth the wait. It easily out shot all my sporting rifles that start with R. I decided to try to max its potential by putting on a Zeiss optic and Talley LW rings.

If I had to only keep one - that would certainly be the one!!

Because Beretta has their head up their azz..........

Dumbest thing I did was to sell my Sako Finnbear in 6.5X55.. I replaced it with a CZ550FS. For what ever reason the 6.5X55 seems to go well beyond what one would think it would do. With heavier rounds Elk and Moose are good to go. In the Scandinavian countries more Moose have been shot with the 6.5X55 than most anything else.
