Looking to purchase a last minute gift for the family. All we have ever used for our photography has been point and shoots. I honestly know squat when it comes to taking pictures. I just bought one of the super zoom point and shoots. A Canon sx700 hs and while it appears to be a nice camera I think I may want to try one of the bridge style cameras for a little more performance. This will be used for family photos in general and also wildlife and outdoors photos. The local Best Buy has one Canon SX50 left but I see they have the new SX60 out. They carry some Nikon too. Any quick advice on a good one to pick??

Panasonic FZ1000. It has a much bigger 1" sensor than the SX60.

I used a Canon SX50HS for a year before upgrading to dSLR. There is little optical difference comparing 50x to 60x zoom. For the money, the SX50HS is a very good camera (sub $400). Its works well as a P&S with the ability for more manual settings and learning the fundamentals of photography.

I Agree that there is little difference between the sx50 and the sx 60 The SX 50 is a very good bridge camera and now it's only $399.00 Camera Land has it in stock and will not charge for shipping and there is no tax call Mark @ 212-753-5128
