I found a 6in stainless Python in a pawn shop today. Used, but not abused condition. Their price is $1600.00. Is that a good price? Shiny finish, but not a high gloss. The guy wouldn't let me take pix. Any help appreciated. Thanks

That's a good price but that is not enough information to determine how good

The finish looks great. No holster wear. A few small nicks on the grips(wood). Has box, paperwork, and presentation case. The bore is shiny, timing is good. No freckling anywhere. There is a roll mark on the cylinder. It has been fired, but well taken care of.

That's a great price in a bad market. They are way overpriced, but in the current market, that one is a "buy it immediately" gun.

Yep, they are bringing that or more.

The guy at the shop just didn't want any pix taken of his stuff, I guess.

A older friend just sold a NIB Python Elite for close to 3k. Unreal. He has had it since the 70's and I told him it was probably worth 2k. He decided to sell it right quick and ended getting scary close to 3k. He couldn't believe it. Had no idea it was even close to that valuable. I don't see where that kind of money is in them but Oh well. I would rather have 6 Model 66's myself than one Python.

They really aren't to most people, any more than the $3000 AR's a couple of years ago that go for $800 now.

They are pretty guns, but not very durable compared to a Smith or Ruger.

But if someone wants to pay an outrageous price for one, it's fine with me.

I wouldn't myself

Give me a Smith 686 and yes i have owned over a dozen Pythons since the late 60's. They don't hold up well to a lot of shooting. Way over priced in today market . Gave 75.00 for my first one , 4 inch Nickel .

$1600 is an excellent price. I would jump all over that if I was you.

I suppose I should really sell the ones my family has

6 inch blued that's got some bluing wear

and a 6 inch nickel that's held up pretty well

both have pachymars, no idea where the original grips are.

any idea on what's a fair price for them?

I was thinking $1200 ea.???

I'm thinking you could do better than that. You know the old saying "you can always come down, it's hard to go up". Good luck
