So the neighbors just dropped by with a Christmas card and some sundries.. Among the items was this: Some sort of pickled hot dog concoction... I carefully opened the jar, made sure the jar made the " Hope I don't get Botulism, Hiss", and forked one of the wiener bits with a toothpick... Hmm... Kinda like a cross between pickled ham and pimento loaf...with a hint of clove. Definitely plenty vinegary, so I won't worry too much about Botulism.. Might be one of the strangest items I've ever received for Christmas...

Did your neighbors actually jar it?
Could it be ...
A re-gifted present from Christmas past?
Does that make your tummy feel good?

If you fellows are like this now, I am sort of glad I was not around when you were freshman.
That is, assuming you are a least sophomores now.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I mean the original post.
They remind me of Gus Glazer's pickled polish sausage. They were likely a regional item.

I imagine they jar'd it. They can during the summer, so they know what they're doing... No fever yet...

You should ask to get a look at the canning room and see if they have anymore of these put up.

Shocker!!! Figured you would endorse. DW I just noticed that they came up way short on the liquid head room. Should never be less that a quarter inch of liquid from the top. Sure hope you didn't really eat any yet! Or maybe you had a drink of the pickled wiener h20, which whould explain the shortage!

Just make yourself a stiff drink and eat all you want, either it will kill ya or not. Won't know the exact reason your sick, course ya might not care either...
