I have recently purchased a semi-auto and I was thinking of leaving one magazine loaded.

Question is how long will the spring last fully compressed or should I leave it half-way compressed for extended storage?

Its an non-issue with a revolver and that's why I'm asking for those who have semi-autos and know. Thank you for taking the time.

With my Wilson 47 mags it doesn't seem to matter. The 47 mags are 7-rounders for a 1911 so maybe it doesn't affect them being compressed.

I keep mine loaded for years before changing springs in the mags. They work fine.

I got banned on another web site for a debate that happened on this site. That's a first

You can leave them loaded for years.

Load all you need to their full capacity. If your mags can't take it, get better mags.
