I'll admit it, I've been a long time Leupophile.....I don't know if I'm getting bored with them or what, but other scope manufacturers are starting to pique my interest; one of them being Weaver.

What can you tell me about the Weaver Super Slam 2-10x42mm? How precise are their adjustments, optical quality, durability, customer service, etc. They're manufactured in Japan, are they made by Light Optical Works?

Let me hear it; the good, the bad and the ugly.

Made by LOW in Japan, had one and should have never sold it. On further review I found the FX3 a bit brighter, but the Weaver was every bit as clear edge to edge at 6x(maybe just a touch better in that regard). Tooless turrets were nice, adjustments were spot on and the EBX reticle worked as advertized on my .300 Win Mag...a bit on the heavey side according to some people, but a VERY well made scope.

I have 2 but they are the nitrex tr2's 2-10X50 w/ the EBX reticle. I agree with cowboy, he is spot on. they are clear w/ smooth adjustments. Interestingly enough they are not as clear in broad day light as my VX III 3.5-10X50 but in low light they are equal...go figure. A bit heavy but that is not bothersome to me yet. I believe these to be a very good scopes especially at the price I paid for them new - $ 200. And as Cowboy said they are built solid.

Seems I recall Natchez is running a good sale on the Super Slams right now.

Almost as bright as a Leupie, and half again as heavy. Sounds like a lose-lose to me.

I have 12 [or more] Weavers, 3 are the 3-10 Grand Slam. I cant fault them, best value for money scope on the market here in NZ. Adjustments are spot on, do exactly what they say they will. And right on dark I have been able to shoot deer when my mates cant even see them. So Weaver has my vote.

I have several Grand Slams (2 4.75's and 2 3-10's) as well and love them. I've also had a Super Slam and they are not the same animal. Grand Slam is more comparable to the Leupold VX lines. Super Slam is a heavier scope with target adjustments. Sold the Super Slam....still have and love the Grand Slams.

I have the exact scope you mention. I have always been a Leupold man but this is really a nice scope. It is very bright and tracks well. I am holding onto mine.

Forgot to mention the power adjustment ring is exceptionally smooth and the focus works like a champ too. I really dig this scope and would buy another in a heartbeat.

I have a grandslam 4.25 fixed power. Mighty clear compared to a couple of Leupold fixed powers I used to own. Well worth the money in my book. I will be keeping this one.

I've been using the Super Slam 2-10X42 for the better part of the last year as my primary test scope for reviews on a wide range of rifles. I've used it on everything up to 338 Win Mag, to date, and the scope has handled everything I've thrown at it. I don't have time at the moment to get into a lot of detail, but I am, for now, a happy customer. We'll see how it holds up.

I recently had this scope with the EBX reticle. I thought the adjustments were a little mushy. I also thought the pop up locking turret wasn't all that positive in its up or down. The scope was IPHY instead of MOA which is a small gripe. I would have preferred MOA. The scope wasn't that eye box friendly either. when I mounted up an elite 4200 3x9 I had laying around. It was a big difference how fast and comfortable I was able to be behind the elite vs the weaver super slam. I would have preferred the scope had done away with the windage knob. Although I didn't use the scope alot I was worried about it being marked well enough that I didn't get confused about which turn of the turret I was in. If the turret somehow popped out without you know it. The adjustments would be very very easy to turn. I don't think I really liked the whole setup that much.

It's a good scope.
