[quote=woodson]But since this same guy paid $4k for a 7mm-08 Ultralight, There is nothing in the feedback(seller OR buyer) that says that deal really went thru. I mean, c'mon, if YOU sold it for 4grand, you'd be singing his 'good buyer' feedback song all over the innanet...... P.S., I wonder what he'd give me for a target grey 7/08 ultralite?.....

Ain't nothing says it didn't go through either. I don't really care one way or the other. I'd not pay anywhere near that. Heck, the last one I bought went OTD with a scope for $410 and that was a couple weeks ago. Since PrarieGoat here is the seller in this auction, maybe he'll let us know how he makes out with the buyer, if he's inclined. I'd be curious to know how this pans out (not that it's any of my business.)

My guess the potential buyer is trying to find the last pieces for a collection. Met a guy 15 years ago that had, at that time, every M77 configuration and caliber they had produced. If this is legit, I'd almost bet is something similar.

I saw one in 7mm/08 at the gun show yesterday for $550, who knew $2725 with a day and a half to go... MagMarc - I guess maybe that one would have made a good investment!

says the guy with the Lazermark...
speaking of which, do you collect Wby stuff? I have a 'symbol of superiority' Wby belt buckle with elephant head/rifle. yours if you want it. like new/no box. Come on toad you can not compare a Bee with that thing. It is like comparing Kate Upton to the wife of a Russian beet farmer!! Sure I do collect Bee memorabilia. Thanks LOL On a serious note why the crazy price? Is it the stock or what? Certainly for the money you can build all sorts of great stuff.

I really like the Boat Paddles as well. Currently have a 77/22, 223, and a 338-06, as well as a short action stock bought from the classifieds waiting for a barreled action. Put me down dfor more if I can find them at reasonable prices in a caliber I want. Already have a .338WM, .300WM and .30-06, left to right below.
Coyote Hunter - NRA Patriot Life, NRA Whittington Center Life, GOA, DAD - and I VOTE!
No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.
A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

I'd guess the price stems from being rare variation of a rifle that is desired for it's legendary durability. the Ruger All Weather 77 MKIIs have somewhat of a cult following. the skeleton stocked Rugers do command a premium over the current version. i passed up a Ruger All Weather in .350 RM a few years ago and still regret it. but not $3K regret.

I love these rifles but not that much...over 2800 now. Had one in 308 that was such a miserable shooter I sold it..one of very few guns I have ever sold.. My 22 LR and 223 shoot great...

Interesting how the "Fire" set ablaze the page views compared to the closed auction. Gotta make the unsuspecting bidders jittery.
The irony..., all +1100, (excluding powder_river_rat!!!), think they're NUTS!
"Cheweycowboy" brings to mind: "Brokeback Mountain".

I don't understand, but I don't think it's any more nuts than dumping that much into a pristine P64 that'll never see the field.
I don't see how it could make bidders 'jittery'. you bid what you want and you are out when the item goes past your max bid.
and it isn't a .270, so it could be much more "Brokeback"
